Battersea Choral Society: Bach St John Passion

Published by gebjohn on

On Saturday 10 March members of Battersea Choral Society, with world-class soloists and renowned early music ensemble Musica Poetica, will perform the epic masterpiece by JS Bach – St John Passion.

The Passion according to St John was first heard on Good Friday, 7 April 1724, as part of the service of Vespers in the church of St Nicholas in Leipzig.

We shall look forward to performing Bach’s musical equivalent of the Passion Play in the heart of Lent, leading to Eastertide; a time for reflection upon the Crucifixion before the celebration of the Resurrection.
